Today we are in Athens, arrived early this morning. Several large ships in port and the port is about 10 miles from Athens central. Have decided to have a lazy day as we were in Athens several years ago & I have seen the Acropolis etc and the Hilton Hotel so decided to save the energy for tomorrow on Mykonos! George has gone exploring for a few hours - I did a 'pink' job - the laundry then wandered down to the terminal where I found this internet cafe.
Diana will be in the air by now on her way to Barcelona. I gather it was rushed for her in the end and have to thank everyone who helped her get away. Crazy that she should get the call in our absence.
It is very hot now, and will probably remain that way while we are in the Greek Isles & Turkey. Looking forward to Mykonos and Santorini. I think we expected all the islands to have whitewashed houses & blue roofs but so far not the case. That will change!

Greetings G&M,
ReplyDeleteforgotten that you were at the leading edge of technology with your blog ( leading edge for me anyway !!)so have just caught up with all your comings and goings.
How incredible having a couple of Macc residents at your table.
M & I were in Mykonos in around '69 so of course it won't have changed much since then !! I certainly was all whitewashed houses and windmills then. Check out the nice sandy back beach with a few restaurants on the beach and the nudie beach a bit further along !!
We got back from HK last week after a great 10 days with K&L and the little boys. Wonderful to see them. It seems to me that nothing much changes in expat life in Asia after 30 yrs. They are really enjoying it and Margot enjoyed the cheap shopping for handbags just over the border in Shenzhen.
I take it you will be in Barcelona at some stage with Diana on her way. Check out our favorite restaurant in the old city adjacent to Las Ramblas. It's called Los Caracoles and is just around 100mts from the Placa Reial at Calle Escudellers 14. Great fun.
Weather crap here in Sydney - wettest May for ages and its still continuing so enjoy your sun !!
We are going to the Swans / Coll game here on June 26th - mmmmmmmmmmmm............
Margot off to Perth on Sunday for 10 days to see the folks.
Have fun
Ian (& Margot)
